Oberndorf Piste Map and Overview
Oberndorf in Tirol is a welcoming base for a ski or snowboard holiday, with direct access to the St. Johann in Tirol/Oberndorf – Harschbichl ski area. The resort combines relaxed Tyrolean village character with a compact, easy-to-navigate mountain, making it particularly appealing for families, mixed-ability groups and anyone who wants plenty of piste time without the scale of a major mega-resort. Most terrain is blue or red, with broad groomed runs and a good mix of lifts connecting Oberndorf and St. Johann.
Snowboarders will enjoy the predominantly intermediate-friendly piste layout, while skiers can make the most of the long descent towards Oberndorf, including the more demanding FIS run from Penzing. The north-facing setting and extensive snowmaking coverage help maintain conditions through the main winter period, although its relatively modest top elevation means it is best enjoyed in the heart of the season rather than very late spring.

Is it good for beginners?
Yes. Oberndorf is a strong choice for beginners because over half of the piste kilometres are graded easy, and the wider St. Johann/Oberndorf area is geared towards gentle progression from practice slopes to longer blue runs. It is also a sensible option for mixed groups: learners can stay on accessible terrain while more confident skiers and snowboarders use the red runs and the FIS descent.
What’s included in the Ski Pass?
- The standard St. Johann in Tirol/Oberndorf ski pass covers the full local 40 km / 25 miles Harschbichl ski area and its lift network.
- This includes skiing and snowboarding between Oberndorf in Tirol and St. Johann in Tirol, rather than being limited to one village-side lift.
- Multi-day tickets are available, from one-day passes through to week-long and longer-duration options.
- From three days, the regional Schneewinkel pass can provide access to more than 110 km of pistes, including the St. Johann/Oberndorf area plus family ski areas in Kirchdorf and Erpfendorf.
- A larger 3 Länder Freizeit-Arena pass is also available, covering around 163 km of pistes across several areas, including Almenwelt Lofer, Steinplatte Waidring/Winklmoosalm, Pillersee/Buchensteinwand, Kirchdorf, Lärchenhof-Erpfendorf, Heutal-Unken and St. Johann/Oberndorf.
- You do not have to buy the wider regional pass for a short stay or for skiing only in Oberndorf/St. Johann: the local-area pass is the cheaper, more practical option.
- Choose Schneewinkel or 3 Länder Freizeit-Arena only if you plan to visit multiple ski areas.
