Hintertux Glacier Piste Map and Overview

Nestled high in Austria’s Zillertal Alps, the Hintertux Glacier is one of the most snow-sure ski destinations in the world and the only glacier ski resort in Austria that offers skiing and snowboarding 365 days a year. Whether you’re visiting in the heart of winter or planning an early-season autumn trip, reliable snow conditions are almost guaranteed thanks to elevations reaching over 3,200 metres. The glacier’s wide-open terrain, modern lift network, and breathtaking alpine scenery make it a favourite with recreational skiers, professional athletes, and snowboarders alike.

What really sets Hintertux apart is its versatility. Intermediate riders will love the long, confidence-building red runs, while advanced skiers can tackle steeper glacier descents and challenging black pistes. Snowboarders are equally well catered for, with the renowned Betterpark Hintertux attracting freestyle riders from across Europe. Add in spectacular mountain views, excellent snow reliability, and access to one of Austria’s largest ski pass networks, and it’s easy to see why Hintertux consistently ranks among the best places in the Alps to ski and snowboard.

Peak winter conditions typically run from November through April, while summer skiing remains available on glacier terrain.

Is it good for beginners?

Yes, although Hintertux is best known for its intermediate terrain. Beginners will find dedicated blue runs around the Sommerbergalm, Kaserer and Olperer areas, along with excellent ski schools and wide pistes that are ideal for practising turns. Absolute first-timers may find some of the mountain’s terrain a little intimidating due to the high-alpine environment, but progressing beginners can develop skills quickly on the glacier’s broad, forgiving slopes.

What’s included in the Ski Pass?
