Grossglockner Kals Matrei Piste Map and Overview

As the largest ski resort in East Tyrol, Grossglockner Kals-Matrei offers an outstanding blend of spectacular scenery, snow reliability and uncrowded slopes. Set beneath Austria’s highest mountain, the resort delivers breathtaking views of more than 60 peaks over 3,000 metres while providing a varied ski area that appeals to every ability level. Thanks to its high-altitude terrain and modern lift network, snow conditions remain excellent throughout much of the winter season, making it a favourite among skiers and snowboarders looking for a more authentic Alpine experience.

What makes Kals-Matrei particularly special is its balance of terrain. Families and beginners benefit from dedicated learning zones and wide, confidence-building pistes, while intermediates can enjoy long cruising red runs that make up the heart of the resort. More advanced skiers and snowboarders will find steep black descents, challenging ski routes and excellent freeride opportunities. Despite being one of East Tyrol’s largest ski areas, it retains a relaxed atmosphere and rarely feels overcrowded compared with Austria’s more famous mega-resorts.
