Obertilliacher Piste Map and Overview

Obertilliach is a peaceful, high-altitude East Tyrolean ski village with a refreshingly uncrowded feel. Its Golzentipp ski area is compact rather than vast, but that is part of the appeal: the slopes are easy to navigate, the atmosphere is family-friendly, and the 10-person gondola provides a quick route from the village into the mountain. With terrain running from 1,430 m to 2,250 m, it also has a stronger altitude profile than many small Austrian resorts, helping it hold snow well through the core winter season.

For skiers and snowboarders, Obertilliach works best for relaxed days on well-groomed pistes, progressing beginners and intermediates who enjoy quieter slopes. The piste mix is led by red runs, while the long Rals descent offers a satisfying 4 km run and an 820 m vertical drop. It is not the place to choose for a large terrain park or a huge variety of advanced pistes, but it is an excellent choice for scenic, low-stress skiing and snowboarding.

Ski Season Length and Dates:

Obertilliach-Golzentipp operates daily during December 2025 to April 2026, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Exact dates can vary with snow and operating conditions, so it is worth checking the resort’s latest opening information before booking.

Is it good for beginners?

Yes. Obertilliach is a very good option for beginners and families, thanks to its calm layout, gentle blue pistes and dedicated children’s facilities. New skiers and snowboarders can build confidence on the easier village-side terrain before moving up to longer runs from Golzentipp. The resort is also officially promoted as a family ski area, although stronger intermediates will get the most variety from its red-run-heavy layout.

What’s included in the Ski Pass?

  • The local Obertilliach-Golzentipp ski pass covers the complete local ski area: 12.6 km / 7.8 miles of pistes, 3 km / 1.9 miles of ski routes and all five lifts, including the Golzentippbahn gondola.
  • The local pass is for Obertilliach-Golzentipp only; it does not automatically include other East Tyrolean resorts.
  • Cheaper short-duration tickets are available, including two-hour and four-hour passes, alongside day and multi-day options. These are useful for beginners, families or visitors planning a shorter time on the slopes.
  • Wider multi-resort options are available separately, including the Osttirol Card Ski-Hit, Snow Card Tirol and Top-Skipass Kärnten Osttirol. These can be worthwhile if you plan to ski several areas during your stay, rather than remaining in Obertilliach.
  • You therefore do not have to buy a whole-region pass: the local Golzentipp ticket is the cheaper choice for skiing only in Obertilliach, while the regional passes are better suited to visitors planning day trips to additional resorts.
