Stubai Glacier Piste Map and Overview
Stubai Glacier is widely considered one of the best ski and snowboard destinations in Austria thanks to its enormous high-altitude terrain, exceptionally reliable snow, and one of the longest ski seasons in the Alps. Sitting high above the Stubai Valley near Innsbruck, the glacier offers dramatic scenery with panoramic views of more than 100 Alpine peaks over 3,000 metres. Skiers and snowboarders love the sheer variety here — from wide-open beginner pistes and long cruising reds to steep freeride terrain and snow parks. Because the resort is glacier-based, snow conditions remain excellent long after lower resorts begin to struggle, making Stubai one of Europe’s top choices for early-season and late-season skiing.
What really sets Stubai Glacier apart is how it manages to cater to every level of rider without losing its big-mountain feel. Beginners get wide, confidence-building slopes with plenty of space to practice, while advanced skiers can explore off-piste powder fields, challenging ski routes, and high-speed carving terrain. Snowboarders particularly rate the resort highly for its terrain parks and natural freestyle features. Despite its size, the resort remains surprisingly accessible, with efficient lifts and free ski buses from Innsbruck and the surrounding villages. Many visitors also combine Stubai Glacier with nearby resorts like Schlick 2000 using the Stubai Skipass, creating one of Austria’s most versatile ski holidays.

Ski Season Length and Dates
Stubai Glacier has one of the longest ski seasons in Europe, typically operating from October through May, with occasional summer skiing opportunities depending on snow conditions.
Is it good for beginners?
Yes — surprisingly good. Although Stubai Glacier is famous for high-altitude skiing and freeride terrain, it also has excellent beginner infrastructure. The glacier features wide blue runs, gentle learning slopes, dedicated practice areas, ski schools, and confidence-friendly cruising terrain. Many beginner skiers specifically praise the spacious pistes around Fernau and Gamsgarten. However, because of the altitude and exposure, weather can occasionally feel more intense than lower tree-lined resorts
