Wildhaus Piste Map and Overview
Wildhaus is one of the most scenic and characterful ski areas in eastern Switzerland, sitting between the dramatic Churfirsten peaks and the Säntis massif in the Toggenburg region. It’s a mid-sized resort that feels refreshingly local and uncrowded, with a mix of forest runs, open alpine slopes, and long descents that give you far more variety than you might expect from its size. The ski area stretches from around 1,020 m up to over 2,000 m, meaning you get a solid vertical drop and surprisingly good snow reliability for a resort this close to lower valleys. It’s the kind of place where skiing feels relaxed and scenic rather than rushed or commercial.
What makes Wildhaus especially appealing is its balance of terrain. Beginners have gentle nursery zones and wide blue runs near Oberdorf, while intermediates get long, flowing red pistes that are ideal for carving. More advanced skiers and snowboarders can head higher up to Gamserrugg for steeper descents and freeride-style terrain, plus one of the standout experiences: the long Galfer ski route back into the valley. Snowboarders also benefit from a snowpark and natural terrain features that keep things interesting without needing a huge resort footprint.

Is it good for beginners?
Yes — Wildhaus is very good for beginners by Swiss standards. There are dedicated practice areas in the valley, beginner lifts near Oberdorf, and wide blue slopes that make learning straightforward and non-intimidating. The ski school setup is strong, and because the resort is not overcrowded, beginners can progress without the pressure you’d find in larger, busier ski areas. That said, the higher terrain becomes more intermediate-focused, so beginners will naturally spend most of their time lower down.
