Hoch-Ybrig Piste Map and Overview
Hoch-Ybrig is one of central Switzerland’s most underrated ski areas, offering a perfect mix of accessibility, reliable snow, and surprisingly varied terrain for its size. Sitting in the canton of Schwyz, it stretches across sunny alpine slopes with wide, well-groomed pistes and stunning views of the surrounding Druesberg and Forstberg peaks. Despite being relatively compact, it delivers a proper mountain feel without the crowds of larger Swiss resorts. With around 50 km of ski runs, it’s big enough to explore for a full day but still easy to navigate, making it especially appealing for relaxed ski trips and short getaways.
What makes Hoch-Ybrig stand out is its balance of cruising terrain and more challenging runs in a compact area. Intermediates will love the long, flowing red pistes, while more advanced skiers and snowboarders can head to steeper sections around Spirstock for a bit more adrenaline. The resort also has a friendly, low-stress atmosphere with modern lifts and excellent snow reliability for its altitude. It’s the kind of place where you can do laps without hassle, enjoy mountain restaurants with panoramic views, and still feel like you’ve discovered a bit of hidden Switzerland rather than a mass-tourism hub.

Is it good for beginners?
Yes — Hoch-Ybrig is very beginner-friendly compared to many Swiss mountain resorts. It has dedicated practice areas in Oberiberg and gentle blue pistes that are wide and uncrowded, making it a comfortable environment for learning. That said, some blues are quite long and can feel a bit exposed higher up, so complete beginners often benefit from sticking to the lower learning zones at first before exploring the full mountain.
