Hintermoos Piste Map and Overview

Tucked into the stunning Hochkönig region of Austria, Hintermoos is a peaceful alpine village that offers direct access to one of the country’s most enjoyable ski networks. Unlike larger, busier resorts, Hintermoos has a quieter and more traditional atmosphere while still connecting seamlessly into the wider Hochkönig ski area. Skiers and snowboarders can enjoy long scenic runs, modern lift systems, and incredible panoramic views of the surrounding Salzburg mountains. The area is especially loved for its uncrowded pistes and easy access to the famous Königstour circuit — one of Austria’s best full-day ski routes.

Hintermoos is particularly well suited to beginners and intermediate riders thanks to its wide blue and red pistes, relaxed pace, and family-friendly environment. Snowboarders enjoy the flowing terrain and freestyle areas nearby, while more advanced skiers can still find steeper black runs and off-piste opportunities across the Hochkönig domain. Because the village sits within the larger Ski amadé network, visitors also have the option to upgrade their ski pass for access to hundreds of additional kilometres of skiing throughout Austria.

Is it good for beginners?

Yes — Hintermoos is an excellent destination for beginners and families learning to ski or snowboard. The resort area features gentle nursery slopes, beginner-friendly blue runs, highly regarded ski schools, and quieter pistes that feel far less intimidating than Austria’s larger resorts. Many of the lower mountain areas are specifically designed for progression, allowing beginners to build confidence before exploring longer cruising runs across the Hochkönig network.
