Kaltenbach Piste Map and Overview
Kaltenbach is the gateway to the outstanding Hochzillertal–Hochfügen ski area, one of the premier ski destinations in Austria’s Zillertal Valley. Known for its modern lift system, wide pistes, and high-altitude terrain, the resort combines excellent snow reliability with a premium skiing experience. The linked ski area stretches across two mountains, offering everything from gentle beginner slopes to challenging black runs and extensive freeride terrain. Many skiers consider it one of the most complete ski areas in Tyrol thanks to its blend of perfectly groomed pistes, fast lifts, and spectacular alpine scenery.
What really makes Kaltenbach stand out is its appeal to a broad range of skiers and snowboarders. Intermediates are especially well catered for, with long cruising red runs and wide-open slopes that are perfect for carving. Advanced skiers can explore the steeper terrain in Hochfügen, while snowboarders enjoy the renowned Betterpark snowpark and natural halfpipe. Community reviews frequently highlight Hochzillertal–Hochfügen as a favourite resort in the Zillertal thanks to its excellent piste quality, impressive vertical descents, and relatively uncrowded slopes compared with some of Austria’s larger destination resorts.

Combined with the high-altitude terrain of Hochfügen and Hochzillertal, this provides reliable conditions throughout the winter season.
Is it good for beginners?

Dedicated learning zones, beginner lifts, and gentle blue pistes around the upper gondola stations provide excellent progression terrain.
