Diavolezza–Lagalb Piste Map and Overview

Diavolezza–Lagalb is one of the most dramatic and adventurous ski areas in Switzerland, sitting beneath the towering glaciers and 4,000-metre peaks of the Bernina Range near St. Moritz. Unlike many large commercial resorts, this area feels wild, high-alpine, and genuinely untamed. The terrain is geared toward confident skiers and snowboarders who love long descents, steep groomers, glacier scenery, and uncrowded slopes. With skiing beginning above 2,000 metres and terrain reaching over 3,000 metres, snow conditions here are among the most reliable in the Alps, often lasting well into May.

What makes Diavolezza–Lagalb especially memorable is the atmosphere. The resort is quieter and more rugged than nearby St. Moritz ski areas, giving it a hidden-gem feel that experienced riders absolutely love. Snowboarders enjoy the wide-open terrain and natural freeride sections, while advanced skiers are drawn to the steep Lagalb pistes and legendary glacier routes around Diavolezza. Reddit users regularly describe Lagalb as one of the most underrated mountains in the Engadin, praising the lack of lift queues and the incredibly long uninterrupted runs.

Ski Season Length and Dates:

Diavolezza–Lagalb has one of the longest ski seasons in Switzerland thanks to its glacier terrain and extremely high elevation. The resort usually operates from mid-October through early May, although Lagalb itself generally runs from mid-December until early April.

Is it good for beginners?

Not really — Diavolezza–Lagalb is aimed much more at intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders. There are virtually no true beginner slopes, and much of the terrain is steep, fast, and high-alpine. Confident intermediates will absolutely love the long red runs and incredible scenery, but complete beginners are usually better suited to nearby Corviglia or smaller learning resorts in the Engadin Valley.
