Ischgl Piste Map and Overview
schgl is one of the most celebrated ski destinations in the Alps, known for its vast and varied terrain that keeps skiers and snowboarders coming back year after year. Situated in the Paznaun Valley of Tyrol, Austria, it forms the energetic heart of the Silvretta Arena — a high-altitude ski area with slopes that suit everyone from beginners to advanced freeriders, and which benefits from excellent snow reliability thanks to its predominantly north-facing terrain and elevations mostly above 2,000 m. The resort also has a lively après-ski and nightlife scene that complements the extensive skiing, making it appealing both for serious ski trips and fun holiday weeks.
What sets Ischgl apart is its seamless international ski experience: the Silvretta Arena connects directly with Samnaun in Switzerland, allowing you to ski across the border without passport checks — a genuinely cool novelty that lets you explore terrain in both Austria and Switzerland on a single ski pass, and even enjoy duty-free shopping in Samnaun mid-day. This two-country ski area feels huge, cohesive, and adventurous, offering long descents (including an 11 km run) and modern lift infrastructure that keeps lift queues short and skiing flowing.

Whats in the Ischgl Ski Pass?
Here’s what’s included in ski passes for Ischgl (Silvretta Arena) — the options vary a bit depending on how broadly you want to ski:
🎿 Silvretta Ski Pass (Standard)
- Full access to the entire Paznaun / Samnaun ski area — including Ischgl, Samnaun, Galtür, Kappl and See — on up to ~76 lifts and cable cars across the region. This is the most comprehensive winter ski pass covering the whole connected area.
- Valid on all open pistes and terrain in the above areas for the duration of your pass.
- Children under 8 ski free when accompanied by a parent (on standard Silvretta passes).
- Often includes perks like free ski buses around the resort and seasonal discounts at local attractions like the Silvretta Therme spa (subject to the season promotional periods).
🎟️ VIP Ski Pass (Ischgl/Samnaun)
- A discounted pass option available to guests of Ischgl/Mathon (with a valid guest card).
- Valid on ~46 lifts and cable cars within the Ischgl–Samnaun area itself — perfect if you plan to stay and ski mainly in the linked Austrian-Swiss portion of the Silvretta Arena.
- Like the standard pass, this includes access to all open slopes and terrain served by those lifts.
- Children under a certain age (e.g., under 10 with parent) often ski free on VIP passes.
🌍 Other Pass Options
- Ikon Pass: Starting winter 2025/26, certain international passes like the Ikon Pass also include limited-day access to Ischgl/Samnaun for holders, as part of a global multi-resort pass network.
In short:
- The standard Silvretta Ski Pass gives you the widest access across the entire region (Ischgl plus neighbouring Paznaun resorts).
- The VIP ski pass is a more local, slightly more limited option focused on just the core Ischgl–Samnaun lifts and slopes — but still includes cross-border skiing between Austria and Switzerland without passport controls.
