Sugar Mountain Resort is the largest ski area in North Carolina, offering a thrilling mix of terrain suited for all abilities. With 125 acres of skiable terrain and a 1,200 ft (366 m) vertical drop, it stands out for its variety – 20–22 trails ranging from dedicated beginner cruisers to intimidating expert runs, including the state’s only double-black-diamond slope (“Whoopdeedoo). The resort boasts 100% snowmaking coverage, extensive night skiing on 14 slopes totaling around 100 acres, and a modern lift system, highlighted by high-speed detachable chairs and nine lifts in total.
