Loon Mountain Piste Map and Overview
Loon Mountain is one of New England’s premier ski destinations, offering a perfect blend of terrain diversity, modern infrastructure, and ease of access. With three separate peaks – North, Loon, and South – spread across over 49 km (30.4 miles) of groomed trails, tree runs, and glades, it caters to skiers of all levels, from mellow beginner slopes to long cruisers, steeps, and challenging off-piste zones. The resort is also well-known for its freestyle scene, hosting six terrain parks, including the only superpipe in New Hampshire, making it a hub for park enthusiasts. Coupled with robust snowmaking (covering nearly all trails) and an average snowfall of around 163 in/year, the mountain delivers reliable winter conditions nearly every season.
What truly sets Loon apart is its world-class lift system and convenient location. The Kancamagus 8, an 8-person high-speed Doppelmayr lift, alongside a gondola and several quads, minimizes wait times and maximizes time on the snow. Its proximity to Interstate 93 – just about two hours from Boston – makes it one of the most accessible large-scale resorts in the region. For families and recreational skiers, that means more runs and less time idling in lift lines (especially midweek), with the added bonus of a lively base village and a suite of non-ski activities like tubing, skating, zip-lining, and cross-country trails.
