Saddleback Maine, located in Sandy River Plantation near Rangeley, is one of the premier ski destinations in the northeastern United States. With a summit elevation of 4,120 feet and a vertical drop of 2,000 feet, it offers a diverse range of terrain across 68 named trails. The resort boasts over 600 acres of skiable terrain, including 88 acres of hand-cut glades and 40 acres dedicated to beginner slopes. Saddleback receives an average annual snowfall of 225 inches and has invested $6.5 million in snowmaking enhancements, covering 85% of its terrain, ensuring reliable conditions throughout the season.
The trail difficulty at Saddleback is well-balanced, catering to all skill levels: 34% beginner, 30% intermediate, and 36% advanced/expert. The resort’s lift system includes six lifts—four quad chairs, one T-bar, and one magic carpet—providing efficient access to its expansive terrain. Notably, Saddleback features the highest base elevation of any ski area in the East at 2,460 feet, contributing to its consistent snow quality. The resort also offers two terrain parks and a longest run stretching 3.1 miles, providing ample opportunities for both freestyle enthusiasts and those seeking extended descents.
