Saas-Balen Piste Map and Overview

Saas‑Balen is a tiny, charming ski spot tucked into the northern edge of the Saas Valley. It’s not the place for huge ski runs or a vast lift network – instead, it’s peaceful and quaint, making it ideal for families or those looking for a very relaxed alpine experience. There’s one small lift and just a half‑kilometre of piste, so it’s more like a local beginner hill than a full resort.

What makes Saas‑Balen special is its authentic village feel and the simplicity of its ski offering. If you want to ski only a little, practise your turns, or enjoy a gentle introduction to snow sports, this spot is perfect – especially in the evenings, when the slope is floodlit for night skiing. Meanwhile, non-skiers can enjoy cross-country skiing and peaceful winter walks, with the village serving as a quiet base in the wider Saas-Fee/Saastal region

What’s included in the Saas-Balen Ski Pass?

  • Saas‑Balen has its own local ski lift, mainly for beginners/families.
  • There is night skiing available (on the Balmer‑Streif), typically from December to mid‑March.
  • To access the larger ski areas (Saas-Fee, Saas-Grund, Saas-Almagell), you’ll need a separate ski pass — Saas‑Balen’s tiny lift is not connected by ski lifts to the main Saastal ski domain.
  • Cross-country skiing is also a strong option here: there’s a 26 km Nordic ski trail starting in Saas‑Balen
