Val-d’Illiez Piste Map and Overview
Nestled in the Swiss canton of Valais, Val-d’Illiez offers a wonderfully relaxed base for a ski or snowboard holiday – yet with access to one of the largest linked ski areas in the Alps. The village itself, at around 950 m, is charming and wellness-oriented (with spa/heating facilities) and gives you a gentle alpine rhythm, which is great for families or anyone wanting a slightly more peaceful setting. From Val-d’Illiez you are just a short funicular or lift ride from the high terrain of Les Crosets and Champoussin, meaning you can enjoy big-mountain skiing or snowboarding without changing your base.
Once you hit the slopes from Val-d’Illiez, you’ll find remarkable variety. From tree-lined beginner runs up into high alpine vistas, to more challenging descents accessible via the larger Portes du Soleil area, this region gives you both comfort and adventure. The scenery is spectacular – think expansive panoramas of the Dents du Midi and the Chablais Alps – and the balance between a relaxing village base and exceptional ski terrain makes it a standout choice for many.
