St Jean d’Aulps Piste Map and Overview
St Jean d’Aulps is a real hidden gem tucked in the Vallée d’Aulps, offering a peaceful, traditional French-mountain village atmosphere while giving you access – through its Roc d’Enfer ski area – to the massive Portes du Soleil ski circuit. The terrain is beautiful: you’ll find woodland slopes, wide-open runs, and a great mix of red and blue pistes that feel uncrowded even during busier times. Because it’s quieter and less touristy than some of the big-name resorts, it’s ideal for a relaxing ski-or-snowboard break, with a very friendly, laid-back local vibe.
On top of that, the setting is genuinely scenic. The ski area’s “Roc d’Enfer” (literally “hellish rock”) gives a rugged and wild feel, with 20 km of marked circuit through forest and nature. You can also easily shuttle into nearby resorts like Morzine, Les Gets, or Avoriaz, which opens up lots more options if you fancy exploring the wider Portes du Soleil area.
