Montriond – Portes Du Soleil Piste Map and Overview
Nestled in the heart of the Portes du Soleil, Montriond offers a wonderfully authentic Alpine village experience combined with access to a world-class ski domain. You get the charm of a traditional French mountain village – think cosy chalets, snowy forests, and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere – while being just a gondola ride away from high-altitude terrain in Avoriaz and links to neighboring areas like Châtel and even Swiss resorts. The ski area directly above Montriond is well serviced, with a variety of lifts (chairlifts, drag lifts, gondolas) that whisk you into a broad network of runs across both countries.
For snowboarding, Montriond is a fantastic base. The shared Portes du Soleil area provides endless terrain for freeriders and park-lovers alike. The natural “Stash” snowpark in the Lindarets forest is particularly magical – hidden wooden features, powdery lines, and a back-to-nature feel make it a favourite among boarders and families alike. Whether you’re into carving long cruisers, exploring hidden powder, or just soaking up alpine views, you’re spoiled for choice.

What’s included in the Montriond – Portes Du Soleil Ski Pass?
The Portes du Soleil ski pass (which is what you’ll likely use when staying in Montriond) gives you access to an expansive, cross-border ski area spanning 12 linked resorts in France and Switzerland. These include: Abondance, Avoriaz, Châtel, La Chapelle d’Abondance, Les Gets, Morzine-Avoriaz, Montriond itself, Saint-Jean d’Aulps, Champéry, Morgins, Torgon, and the Swiss sector of Les Crosets / Val d’Illiez.
There are also smaller, cheaper pass options if you don’t want the full area. For example, a “local pass” (Morzine–Les Gets) gives access to a more limited domain rather than the full 650 km-plus of Portes du Soleil. And for younger or beginner skiers, there are more restricted passes: the ESF in Montriond suggests beginners may prefer a more limited pass (e.g. Avoriaz-only) before upgrading.
