La Chapelle d’Abondance is a truly charming gem tucked away in the Haute-Savoie, high in the Abondance Valley. Its ski terrain feels wonderfully authentic – think tree-lined runs, intimate slopes, and that laid-back alpine village vibe. The Crêt-Béni sector, in particular, is perfect for families and intermediate skiers: it’s north-facing (so the snow stays in great shape), offers gentle green and blue slopes, and has a really peaceful, friendly atmosphere. Meanwhile, the Braitaz side gives more adventurous skiers access to more terrain, including the link into Switzerland via Torgon, making it a versatile base for all abilities.
What makes La Chapelle even more special is that it’s a quiet alternative to some of the busier resorts, without sacrificing access to big ski adventures. From here, you can hop on the Panthiaz gondola and ski into Châtel or further into the vast Portes du Soleil network – but when you want to come home, you return to the peaceful, uncrowded charm of the village. The free shuttle bus between Crêt-Béni and Braitaz also makes getting around easy and stress-free.

What’s included in the La Chapelle d’Abondance Ski Pass?
- With the La Chapelle / Torgon pass, you get access to the Crêt-Béni, Braitaz, and Torgon sectors – about 75 km of slopes.
- The Espace Liberté pass covers Châtel, La Chapelle d’Abondance, Torgon, and part of Morgins – around 130 km of runs.
- The Portes du Soleil pass gives you full access across all 12 resorts in the ski area (France and Switzerland) – approximately 650 km of slopes, 308 pistes, and over 200 lifts.
There are cheaper passes that don’t give you the full Portes du Soleil. For example, the Chapelle / Torgon pass or the Espace Liberté pass lets you ski in a subset of the area. You don’t have to buy the full Portes du Soleil pass unless you want to do the full circuit.
