Abondance Piste Map and Overview

Abondance combines the charm of a quiet Alpine village with access to a grand ski domain – making it ideal for anyone who wants a peaceful base with big-mountain potential. You ski from the Essert sector, reached by gondola from the village, and enjoy a mix of green, blue, and even some black runs, all framed by scenic forested slopes. The atmosphere in Abondance feels very traditional: think cozy mountain chalets, friendly ski lifts, and fewer crowds than in the more famous high-altitude resorts – yet you’re still just a shuttle or lift away from the huge Portes du Soleil area.

For snowboarders, Abondance is a hidden gem. Its modest lift network and family-friendly terrain make it great for carving and exploring at a relaxed pace, while more adventurous riders can use the Portes du Soleil ski pass (see below) to link up to bigger, more varied slopes across 12 resorts. The combination of a peaceful village base and access to a vast ski area gives the best of both worlds – quiet evenings by a wood-burning stove, then big days of exploration.

What’s Included in the Abondance Ski Pass?

  • The full Portes du Soleil pass gives access to 12 linked ski resorts in France and Switzerland.
  • Resorts included: Abondance, La Chapelle d’Abondance, Châtel, Avoriaz, Morzine, Les Gets, Montriond, Saint-Jean d’Aulps, Champéry, Morgins, Torgon, Val d’Illiez / Les Crosets.
  • There are cheaper pass options if you don’t need the full area: for example, you can get a pass just for Abondance (the Essert ski area), or you can choose a smaller regional pass like “Espace Liberté – Châtel / La Chapelle / Morgins / Torgon” rather than the full Portes du Soleil.
