Montclar Piste Map and Overview
Set in the Southern French Alps in the Ubaye Valley, Montclar is a classic “hidden gem” ski resort that delivers a relaxed, sunny, and very family-friendly mountain experience. Sitting between roughly 1,350 m and 2,450 m, it benefits from a good mix of mid-altitude snow reliability and southern Alpine sunshine, giving you bright ski days with wide views over the Serre-Ponçon lake and surrounding peaks. It’s not a mega-resort, but that’s exactly the appeal – everything feels calm, accessible, and easy to navigate.
What makes Montclar stand out is how much variety it packs into a compact and welcoming ski area. With around 50 km of pistes spread across two main slopes, you get a surprisingly diverse mix of gentle beginner runs, long cruisy blues, and more challenging red and black descents for progression. Add in forest skiing, a snowpark, night skiing, and a strong family focus, and it becomes the kind of place where you can ski all day without stress, queues, or overwhelming terrain decisions.
