Le Dévoluy Piste Map and Overview

Spread across the linked villages of Superdévoluy and La Joue du Loup, the Le Dévoluy ski area is one of the Southern Alps’ most underrated all-round resorts. What makes it so appealing is its scale and variety without the crowds – you get a full “proper ski domain” feel with around 100 km of pistes, but still plenty of space to breathe on the mountain. The terrain is well-balanced, meaning beginners can cruise wide, sunny blues while intermediates enjoy long, flowing reds linking the two villages.

Another big advantage is its altitude and sunshine mix. Sitting between 1,500 m and 2,500 m, Le Dévoluy combines reliable snow conditions with the famously sunny climate of the Southern Alps. The layout also makes it easy to explore in a single ski day, with modern lifts connecting varied sectors and a snowpark for freestyle riders. Snowboarders tend to love the open runs and natural terrain features, while skiers appreciate how much mileage you can cover without ever feeling overcrowded or repetitive.

Is it good for beginners?

Yes – very good. Le Dévoluy has dedicated nursery zones in the villages plus plenty of wide, gentle blue runs that descend from higher lifts. Beginners can progress comfortably without immediately being pushed onto steeper terrain, and the quiet slopes make it less intimidating than many Alpine resorts.

Does it include multiple resorts?

  • Yes
  • One ski pass covers the entire Le Dévoluy domain, including:
    • Superdévoluy
    • La Joue du Loup

Are there cheaper ski pass options?

  • Yes
  • Options usually include:
    • Half-day passes
    • Beginner-area focused passes
    • Reduced-price multi-day passes
  • You do not need to buy separate passes for each village
  • There is no need for an external regional pass unless you’re combining multiple ski areas

Le Dévoluy is best seen as a “big-resort feel without big-resort chaos” – lots of terrain, plenty of variety, and a relaxed atmosphere that works well for mixed-ability groups.
