Isola 2000 Piste Map and Overview

Perched high in the Southern French Alps near the Italian border, Isola 2000 is one of the most snow-reliable resorts in the region thanks to its altitude and Mediterranean-influenced microclimate. What makes it especially attractive is its scale – over 120 km of pistes spread across a wide natural bowl – giving skiers and snowboarders plenty of room to explore without feeling cramped. The resort is also very ski-in/ski-out, so you can step straight from accommodation onto the slopes, making it incredibly convenient for longer stays.

Another standout feature is its versatility. The terrain is genuinely mixed, with wide beginner areas near the village, long cruising blues for intermediates, and more challenging red and black runs higher up in the Méné and Sistron sectors. Snowboarders benefit from open terrain, a snowpark, and natural freeride zones after fresh snowfall. Add in the stunning views—on clear days you can see all the way to the Mediterranean – and Isola 2000 delivers a rare combination of sunshine, altitude, and proper Alpine skiing.

Is it good for beginners?

Yes – very much so. Isola 2000 has large, gentle beginner zones right above the resort, plus long blue runs that allow new skiers to progress naturally without quickly hitting steep terrain. The layout is also forgiving, with wide pistes and easy lift access, making it one of the better “big” resorts for learning in the Southern Alps.

What’s included in the Ski Pass?

  • Access to the full 120 km Isola 2000 ski area
  • All lifts across the resort (gondolas, chairlifts, drag lifts, funicular)
  • Beginner zones and nursery slopes near the village
  • Snowpark access (freestyle area with jumps and rails)
  • Marked pistes across all difficulty levels (green, blue, red, black)
  • Night skiing access on selected lifts during holiday periods
  • Access to ski-in/ski-out village connections across the resort

Does it include multiple resorts?

  • Not by default
  • The standard pass is for Isola 2000 only
  • However, it is part of the wider Mercantour ski area network, where combined passes (e.g. with Auron) can sometimes be purchased depending on the season

Are there cheaper ski pass options?

  • Yes
  • Common options include:
    • Beginner-only lift passes (limited area access)
    • Half-day tickets
    • Multi-day discounted passes
  • You do not need a full regional pass unless you want to ski linked neighbouring resorts

Isola 2000 is best described as a “big mountain feel in a compact, sunny setting” – reliable snow, lots of terrain variety, and one of the easiest high-altitude resorts to access from the Mediterranean side of the Alps.
