Autrans Piste Map and Overview

Autrans is a delightful, authentic French Alps ski resort in the heart of the Vercors Massif that combines relaxed alpine skiing with stunning natural scenery. Its charming village atmosphere and quieter slopes make it a perfect escape for those who want a traditional mountain experience without the crowds of bigger resorts. The alpine terrain at Autrans may be smaller in scale compared with major Alpine giants, but it offers a very friendly and accessible environment for exploring on skies or a snowboard, with peaceful forested runs that are wide, gentle, and fun.

What truly sets Autrans apart is its superb diversity of winter activities and the combination of alpine and Nordic skiing in one destination. While the downhill area is lovely for cruisers and family groups, the resort is also famed as one of Europe’s premier venues for cross‑country skiing, with extensive groomed trails through scenic forests and high plateaus. This mix of alpine slopes and Nordic trails creates a wonderfully varied winter playground — whether you’re carving turns on gentle descents or gliding through peaceful snowy landscapes.

Ski Season Length and Dates

The typical season at Autrans runs from around 20 December to 8 March, although exact dates vary year‑to‑year depending on snowfall conditions.

Is it good for beginners?

Yes — Autrans is excellent for beginners and families. The majority of runs are gentle green and blue slopes that are perfect for learning and building confidence, and the relaxed atmosphere and small scale mean that novices don’t feel pressured or overwhelmed. Even intermediate riders will enjoy the variety of slightly steeper trails, while advanced skiers can find some challenge on the few reds and blacks. In short, it’s a welcoming place for skiers of all levels, but especially ideal for beginners and those after easy cruising.

What’s Included in the Ski Pass?

  • Access to all downhill alpine ski lifts and pistes within the Autrans alpine ski area
  • Use of beginner and intermediate slopes, plus a few more challenging runs for confident skiers
  • Lift access between the two main alpine sectors (e.g., La Sure and Méaudre) under one pass

Does it include multiple resorts?

  • The standard ski pass covers only the Autrans‑Méaudre alpine ski area — there isn’t a large linked network of resorts included. However, the pass gives access to multiple zones within the Autrans skiing area itself.

Are there options for cheaper ski passes?
Yes — Autrans typically offers:

  • Half‑day passes (morning or afternoon)
  • Beginner/child passes at reduced rates
  • Multi‑day discounted passes for longer stays

You don’t have to buy the full area pass if you only intend to ski a portion of the slopes or for a shorter period, which makes it a cost‑effective choice for families or casual skiers.
