Kom–Berkovitsa Piste Map and Overview
Nestled in the western Balkan Mountains of Bulgaria, the ski area near Berkovitsa – often referred to as Kom–Berkovitsa – is a small and tranquil alpine escape. The slopes are typically uncrowded, offering a peaceful skiing experience under towering conifer forests. Warm hospitality, modest prices (lift passes and lodging starting around 10 EUR), and cozy mountain huts around 2,016 m elevation make it especially appealing for families, beginners, and skiers seeking a budget-friendly, relaxed winter retreat.
While currently modest in scope, the region is being positioned for significant winter tourism growth. Plans under the “Berkovitsa Balkan” project include the expansion of ski slopes to approximately 13 km (with potential future extension to 25 km), the installation of modern chair lifts – including gondolas – and the development of new accommodation facilities and infrastructure. This blend of current rustic charm and promising growth makes Berkovitsa an excellent mix of tranquil skiing today and a destination with evolving potential for tomorrow.
