Hintertux Piste Map and Overview

Hintertux Glacier is one of the most unique and snow-sure ski and snowboard destinations in the Alps, offering high-alpine terrain that’s often skiable for 10+ months a year, making it a perfect choice for early or late season trips as well as peak winter. The glacier’s slopes rise up to 3,250 m / 10,663 ft, ensuring fantastic snow quality and long, varied runs for all abilities. Its blend of glacier pistes, challenging steeps, and wide cruising terrain makes this a thrilling playground for intermediates and advanced riders, while the high altitude keeps conditions reliable even in warmer weather.

What sets Hintertux apart is the year-round skiing experience and breathtaking views. Unlike most resorts, Hintertux offers glacier skiing nearly every day of the year, meaning you can often hone your skills in shoulder seasons when other areas have shut down. The close-knit lift network and welcoming mountain huts add to the fun, and the glacier’s dramatic scenery makes even relaxed runs feel exhilarating. Plus, its location at the head of the Zillertal valley means you’re surrounded by some of Austria’s most iconic alpine landscapes

Ski Season Length and Dates

Hintertux Glacier’s winter ski season typically runs from early October to early May, and the glacier itself often offers skiing outside these dates thanks to its high-alpine snowfields.

What’s included in the Ski Pass?

  • Access to the local Hintertux Glacier area, with lifts and glacier pistes up to 3,250 m.
  • Hintertux ski pass typically covers the immediate glacier slopes and linked local lifts (e.g., Finkenberg, Eggalm, Rastkogel when valid in winter season).
  • Snow Card Tirol compatibility, offering access across over 90 ski areas throughout Tyrol including Hintertux.
  • Multi-day and season ticket options that include this glacier and linked areas in the Zillertal.
  • Epic Pass validity for a limited number of days at Hintertux & Mayrhofen in the winter season.

Does it include multiple resorts?

A standard Hintertux Glacier pass covers the glacier’s own lifts and pistes. During the core season (early Dec–mid-Apr), the Zillertal Superskipass or Snow Card Tirol can be used to access the broader Ski & Glacier World Zillertal 3000 network — including Eggalm, Rastkogel, Mayrhofen & Finkenberg — without buying separate tickets.

Are there cheaper, smaller passes?

You can buy a pass just for the Hintertux Glacier if you’re focusing on the glacier alone. However, if you plan to explore the wider Zillertal ski areas, a Zillertal Superskipass or Snow Card Tirol offers much greater value and access across multiple regions.
