Gerlosstein Piste Map and Overview

Gerlosstein is a charming and family-friendly ski area and is very close to Hainzenberg in the larger Zillertal Arena ski region, and it’s a perfect choice if you’re seeking a quieter, small-scale skiing experience away from bigger crowds. With around 10 km / 6 mi of well-groomed pistes that snake through tree lined terrain, Gerlosstein offers a relaxed environment that’s ideal for families, beginners, and intermediate skiers and snowboarders looking for a fun day on the snow. The area sits beneath the dramatic Gerlossteinwand and gives you lovely views over the Zillertal valley while you glide down gentle reds, one blue run, and even a fun black section if you want a bit more challenge.

What makes Gerlosstein really special is its peaceful vibe and focus on fun for everyone. Unlike larger, busier ski resorts, you’ll feel comfortable here learning new skills, improving confidence on gentle slopes, or enjoying quality time with family and friends. There’s also a toboggan run and snow tubing zone to add variety to your day, plus cosy mountain huts to stop for lunch with scenic views of snow-covered peaks. While the pistes are compact, being part of the Zillertal Arena means you’re close to much larger terrain if you want to explore more of the valley on other days of your trip.

Is it good for beginners?

Gerlosstein is especially welcoming for beginners and families thanks to its gentle nursery slopes and calm, tree-lined runs that provide a comfortable environment for learning and progression.

What’s included in the Ski Pass?

  • Access to the local Gerlosstein ski area with lift rides at the Gerlosstein-Hainzenberg zone, covering all pistes there.
  • Use of beginner and intermediate slopes — a mix of blue, red, and a short black for varied skiing.
  • Snow tubing and toboggan activities within the area, providing more fun beyond skiing.
  • Scenic mountain huts and rest areas accessible with your ski pass.

Does it include multiple resorts?

Within Gerlosstein itself, the pass covers the compact local terrain only. However, the Zillertal Arena skipass or the Zillertaler Superskipass also covers Gerlosstein along with the larger Zillertal Arena network — so with the broader pass you can ski across Zell am Ziller, Gerlos, Königsleiten, and Hochkrimml on the same ticket.

Are there cheaper, smaller passes?

You can buy a day ticket just for Gerlosstein if you’re focusing on this small area, which is great for a half- or full-day with family. However, if you want to explore the wider Zillertal Arena, a Zillertal Arena ski pass or Zillertaler Superskipass provides access to all major sectors without needing separate tickets.
