Zell am See Piste Map and Overview

Zell am See is one of Austria’s most enchanting winter playgrounds, combining classic alpine charm with spectacular ski and snowboard terrain. Nestled beside the glistening Lake Zell and backed by the towering peaks of the Alps, this resort delivers a scenic backdrop that makes every run feel special. The Schmittenhöhe mountain above town offers well-groomed pistes for cruising and carving, while the nearby Kitzsteinhorn glacier in Kaprun delivers guaranteed snow and thrilling high-altitude terrain well into spring. With options ranging from smooth, beginner-friendly zones to steep freeride routes and snow parks, Zell am See has something for every level of rider.

What truly sets Zell am See apart is how it’s part of a vast, interconnected ski region. With the Ski ALPIN CARD you can explore not just the local slopes but also access the legendary terrain of Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Leogang-Fieberbrunn — making it feel like a gateway to one of the largest and most varied ski networks in Austria. Whether you’re looking for relaxed lake views from a gentle cruiser or pumping adrenaline down a glacier piste, this region’s breadth and diversity make it an unforgettable ski and snowboard destination.

Is it good for beginners?

Yes — areas like Maiskogel and dedicated gentle runs around Schmittenhöhe are excellent for beginners and families, with wide, easy slopes and good ski school support.

Does the ski pass allow you to access the larger ski area?

The Ski ALPIN CARD is the main lift pass and lets you access the immediate Zell am See–Kaprun ski areas plus the wider Skicircus Saalbach / Hinterglemm / Leogang / Fieberbrunn, giving you up to around 408 km of interconnected terrain with one pass. You can also choose smaller, cheaper lift passes that cover just the local area (e.g., Zell am See or Kaprun/Maiskogel on their own) if you don’t need full access.

What’s included in the Ski Pass?

The main pass, the Ski ALPIN CARD, includes access to:

  • Schmittenhöhe (Zell am See) — classic alpine skiing with varied pistes and scenic views.
  • Kitzsteinhorn Glacier (Kaprun) — high-altitude, snow-sure skiing and world-class snow parks.
  • Maiskogel & Lechnerberg (Kaprun) — family-friendly and beginner terrain.
You get lift access across these zones with one pass, spanning gentle cruisers to challenging slopes and glacier runs.

Does it include multiple resorts?

Yes — the pass covers multiple ski regions: Schmittenhöhe, Kitzsteinhorn glacier, Maiskogel, and the extensive Skicircus Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Leogang-Fieberbrunn network, giving tremendous variety in terrain and experiences.

Are there options for cheaper ski passes?

Yes — you can buy local passes that cover only specific sub-areas (for example, just Zell am See’s Schmittenhöhe or Kaprun’s Maiskogel) if you don’t want the full regional access. However, the all-area Ski ALPIN CARD offers the best value if you plan to explore widely.
