Paljakka Piste Map and Overview

Owing to its remote, quiet setting in Kainuu, Paljakka is especially good if you’re looking for a more relaxed ski holiday, away from crowded big resorts. The slopes are well maintained, natural snow conditions are generally quite good (helped by its location in the snowiest area of Finland), and there is a good mix of slope difficulties (from gentle beginner runs to more challenging trails) that make it appealing both to families and intermediate skiers. Also, the fact that many slopes incline to the west helps catch afternoon sun, and there are good cross‐country ski trail options too.

Because it’s not a huge resort, the skiing is manageable in a short stay – you won’t spend huge amounts of time on lifts or commuting. For someone wanting to get turns in, improve technique, or enjoy the winter landscape in a more peaceful way, Paljakka delivers good value.
