Catamount Piste Map and Overview
Catamount Ski Area straddles the New York–Massachusetts border in the Taconic/Berkshire region, offering a versatile blend of terrain packed into a compact footprint. With 44 trails (16 beginner, 18 intermediate, 10 advanced/expert), Catamount features a long green cruising run (Ridge Run) nearly 1.75 miles from top to bottom and steep expert-only terrain – including Catapult, Christopher’s Leap, and Ripper – ranking among the most challenging in the Berkshires. The resort is family-friendly, supports robust snowmaking on over 90% of trails, offers night skiing on 22 of them, and has modernized infrastructure including new quad and triple lifts, along with upgraded lodge facilities.
Despite its modest size, Catamount delivers a true 1,000‑ft vertical drop and carefully maintained terrain that often outshines its acreage. Reviewers and regulars highlight the coveted double‑black runs as rare finds on an East‑Coast hill, and praise the relatively low crowds, quick uphill access, and improving snowmaking and grooming operations – even in thin winters. The resort also attracts learning-focused visitors with its Snow Sports Learning Area and well-regarded youth ski racing programs, often bundled in pass packages like the Indy Pass or Berkshire Summit Pass.
